There are days when my heart feels more fervently than other days. I look around me and understand how blessed I am. But then I watch the misery of so many people in different parts of the world and feel a need to go into mindful prayer.
Mindful prayers to me are almost like meditating. I focus on a photograph of a loved one or perhaps a headline in the newspaper and begin a spiritual conversation with myself.
I do not follow a script or an actual prayer; I simply explain how I feel and hope that there will be some kind of intervention to either resolve a problem or to help me make a decision. I use aromatherapy or a scented candle to help me speak clearly and on point. The important thing is to focus attention on one thing at a time. I take deep breaths and try to visualize myself in the moment. Do I look calm, committed and under control? I want to sound sincere and I want to be as specific as possible.
At the end of my mindful prayer session I ring a bell. This helps me to get back on track or to start a prayer about something else.
Sometimes repeating the same thing is a good idea. Repetition helps to firm what ever it is you are asking for during your prayer.
I hope this is somewhat helpful. Please leave a comment and tell me what you think. Happy Mindful praying!

“Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu” which means May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.
I chant this mantra quite often or whenever I feel overwhelmed to see the misery or injustice in the world.

Excellent. I will repeat this to myself every morning during my meditation. Thanks so much for your comment and for stopping by Creative Mindfulness.

I think this is a beautiful idea, setting your intention and prayer on one particular person or situation. Sitting still, calmly in the moment, being aware, mindful and positive simply has to raise the vibration. Blessings to you. xx
