Three Mindful Quotes Related to the Happenings of This Week

“Sooner or later, everyone sits down to a banquet of consequences.” — Robert Louis Stevenson can no longer resist.”Marcus Tullius Cicero

“May I stress the need for courageous, intelligent, and dedicated leadership… Leaders of sound integrity. Leaders not in love with publicity, but in love with justice. Leaders not in love with money, but in love with humanity. Leaders who can subject their particular egos to the greatness of the cause.”

                                                                                       -Martin Luther King, Jr.

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

                                                                                                                 -Nelson Mandela
These are three of my favorite quotes. I would tell my students they were quotes to live by. I thought about how there is such little respect or thoughtfulness these days. It seems anything goes and it’s OK. We lost Ms. Aretha Franklin this week and her song  RESPECT has been played over and over again. I hope the concept sinks in to the minds of those who no longer seem to think that respect and love for each other is what we need.
